Paul was unmistakably clear about who Jesus is.  He paraphrased an Old Testament passage specifically referring to Jehovah God and applied it directly to the person of Jesus.  In about 700 B.C. the prophet Isaiah wrote:

Isaiah 45.22-25Look unto me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God [plural Elohim], and there is none else.  I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That UNTO ME EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, EVERY TONGUE SHALL SWEAR.  Surely, shall one say, in the Lord [Jehovah/YHWH] have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.  In the Lord [Jehovah] shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

Paul applies this to Jesus the Messiah:

Philippians 2.6-11  Who, BEING IN THE FORM GOD, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD; but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; AND THAT EVERY TONGUE SHOULD CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, to the glory of God the Father.

According to Paul, Jesus had a preexistence equal with God.  He deliberately became human, died, resurrected, and is now highly exalted—to receive the exact worship due only to Jehovah God.

Psalm 45 is a prophecy of the coming Messiah.  Verse 6 says, “THY THRONE, O GOD, is for ever and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter.”  The writer of Hebrews took this verse and applied it directly to Jesus:

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM HE MADE THE WORLDS; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON, and UPHOLDING ALL THINGS BY THE WORD OF HIS POWER, when he had BY HIMSELF purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.  For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?  …but UNTO THE SON HE SAITH, THY THRONE, O GOD, IS FOR EVER AND EVER: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.”

Jesus created all things.  He is the brightness of God's glory--the EXPRESS IMAGE of God.  UNTO THE SON [Jesus] HE [God] SAITH, THY THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER.  That Son of God--Jesus--IS Jehovah God!  Together, these verses prove He cannot be any created being!

Jesus is NOT an angel, he’s better than any angel.  He's not merely a good human being, he's more than a human being.  Jesus is the express image of Jehovah’s person.  Jesus created the universe out of nothing and continues to hold it together by his own power alone!  He is our creator-God.
